A Saturday with Style

A few weekends ago I hung out with Emily A. Clark at Lowe’s Home Improvement for Style Saturday. It was such fun, we got to do consultations and everyone who came got to do a craft. The craft I selected was this wallpaper poster and y’all it’s SO EASY.

All I did was cut the wallpaper into a 2 foot long strip, hot glue it onto wood laths that were cut one inch wider than the wallpaper (they’ll cut them at Lowe’s for you) and then wrap the laths in twine to make a hanger. We got extra fancy and made a little twine tassel and wrapped it with wire that was thin enough to cut with scissors.

Pretty much the easiest project ever!

Lowe’s had all the supplies laid out and organized. There were five different wallpapers to choose from and plenty of space to create.

The consultations were my favorite part. I think I met with eight different people (or groups if they brought their family) and pretty much everyone needed the exact same advice…are you ready for it?

Yes, pretty much everyone already had all the great ideas, but most just needed that extra push that “YES, you should totally do that!”

I was so impressed with Lowe’s. They were organized (a chalkboard with the consultation times written all pretty, laminated full color instructions for the crafts), they were prepared (they had seating all set up and three helpers there to assist) and they were so generous (not only did they offer my project for free, Emily A. Clark was there too and anyone who came could do both projects, and everyone who got in on the consultations got a $25 gift card.)

If there’s a Style Saturday in your city, I’d highly recommend you attend. I think this was a trial run along with a few other selected cities that have already hosted theirs. I’ll let you know if I hear of others.

It’s a sweet nautical inspired rope memo board.

I’m always pleasantly surprised when I get to meet you all in real life. It’s like we are next door neighbors picking up right where we left off. Thanks to all of you who came out, it was SUCH a fun event and I just adore you all. I hope next time we get together, it’ll be At The Barn!!!
