Where to Buy Lamps :: and Other Cute Stuff

I forgot to tell you, every lamp I talked about and showed you in yesterday’s post was from TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Even the lantern. Even the thrift store lamp had a tag on it from our local Marshalls/Home Goods.  I figured out years ago that they always have the best selection of on trend, ever changing, good priced lamps of various shapes and sizes.  And apparently, many of you have too according to the comment section.

I’m too cheap and lazy to have photoshop.  But I do play around with photobucket.  Here’s my family room.  Everything in color, I bought at either TJ Maxx or Marshalls.  Pillows, dishes, accessories, and of course, lamps.

Here’s how it looks if you aren’t a robot.  And finally, FINALLY, TJ Maxx and Marshalls have decided to partner with Nesting Place and claim their rightful crown as my lamp go to store. Ok, so I wish they would have done this before I spent my own hard earned cash decorating my home but, it’s not like they can read the future.  Plus, it’s not like I can’t always find something within  3.5 seconds of walking through the doors.  Plus, I really didn’t spend all that much cash anyway, the prices are all so reasonable.   So, I was thrilled that  TJ Maxx and Marshalls sent me some giftcards, some for me to shop with, and some for you. {It’s about time TJ Maxx & Marshalls, I’ve been shopping with you for years, lets do this again sometime mkay?}

In my town, all the TJ Maxx and Marshalls have a Home Goods store attached to them.  Meaning, the stores are one big store sometimes with two separate entrances but, when you go in the home section is called Home Goods.  So I hope it’s not too confusing when I say Home Goods but really, it was TJ Maxx or Marshalls to most of you.  And then, I have heard tell of Home Goods stores being all by their lonesome, without a TJ Maxx or Marshalls.  But for me, when I say Home Goods, I usually mean, my TJ Maxx and Marshalls store that has a huge, HUGE home section within it called Home Goods.  I’m glad we had that little talk and have that all cleared up.

Here are just a few of the beauties that I saw while at my local TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores. There was a sofa for $399, lots of uniquly shaped dishes that would look beautiful added to my wall of plates, rugs at super amazing prices and did I mention the lamps?

And because I apparently need a hobby, oh wait, this is my hobby, I took some photos of some of the items I’ve used in my home that are from the dynamic duo of TJ Maxx and Marshalls.  My white dishes–I’ve collected them over time and whenever I’m at TJ Shalls?  MarshMaxx?  What can we call them for short?  Anyway, whenever I’m there and see a white dish I love, especially if it’s a unique shape, I buy it.  That number 3 up there was on sale for 1.99.

I’ve had this wire basket for years, I think I’ve used it in every room of my house.  MarshMaxx. TJ Shalls.

I love this carved piece of wood that currently lives on our mantel.  Again, had it for years, dropped it probably 31 times.  I love that they have the “compare at” on the price tag. You can find things for 60% off the compare at price.

You know I have a weakness for accessories, and when I’m shopping, I follow my heart.  This vase made me gasp.  I grabbed it knowing I’d find a place somewhere.  I don’t really have yellow in my house but I thought it would be fun to add a drop of color like that and the shape and the strips and $14.99! Plus, remember, I now had a gift card.  This is one of the items I just purchased. When I see something that I immediately connect to and I have the cash for it and I LOVE it {doesn’t happen all the time because I’m picky} I buy it.  I don’t worry at all about where I’ll put it.  I figure when I get home I can make it work, that’s the fun part.  And if for some reason I hate it in my house when I get home, I can just return it no harm done.

Awe inspiring.

I must be dreaming.

I found this little beauty pre gift card.  I love it. I need another word for love.  It was $12.99.  I think you are supposed to put a plant in it but I like it with pretend eggs.

I just got this mirror for my office.  I’ve felt like my home is starting to lean too feminine/sissy/fragile so I’ve been on the lookout for a substantial item that isn’t girly for each room.  This mirror was a perfect find.  Oh and the bird lamps I found years ago for $39 each at TJ Maxx. And that white little file stand thing in the middle was also from TJ Maxx, had it for 5 years.  The baskets are probably from Marshalls.  My poor husband.  We should have bought stock in those stores.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls are giving away 4 $25 gift cards.  These are good at either store, and if your Home Goods is the SAME store as TJ Shalls, you can use it there too, but if your Home Goods is a store by itself without a TJ’s or a Shalls, then I don’t think it will work.  Remember out chat up there? I think gift cards are better than cash because if I have cash I buy gas or milk or something boring.  Want to win one?  Leave a comment, tell me your best find at TJ Maxx/Marshalls.

And by all means, if you don’t have a lamp, please use the gift card to get yourself a lamp, it will make your evenings so much nicer.

  7. Just a couple weeks ago, I bought a pretty white bathroom cabinet with a mirrored door at Home Goods. It was on clearance for $55. It looks beautiful in my bathroom and matches my cabinetry and hardware beautifully. I have found a number of clothing items at TJ Maxx to wear–most recently, a beautiful lilac jacket–but I haven’t had much luck with home accessories. Part of the problem is that I don’t get over to the store often enough.

  11. One of the reasons I don’t think I would ever want to move back to Canada, is that I can’t leave Home Goods behind! My first purchase was a Bassett white entry table that I used my birthday money to buy at Home Goods. I was so thrilled with it, only $199 for such a good quality unique piece of furniture.

  12. I LOVE HomeGoods! A few times a year, I even drive to every HomeGoods store in metro Atlanta (there are quite a few) for one mega shopping day!

Most of my house is accessorized with HomeGoods things, but I think my favorite are 2 lamps I have in my bedroom. The bases are basic brushed nickle, but the shades are this cool damask pattern that I adore! Best bargain from there was an All-Clad pan originally $130, marked down to $25! I’ve used that pan every day for years.

  13. Wow, can I really be the 1420 comment? I love shopping for clothing at TJ Maxx and I buy most of my gifts for showers and birthdays there. I pretty much wish I lived NEXT to a TJ Maxx but alas, I do not.

  14. I’d love to win! These are my favorite stores!

  15. Just one? Hmm…I found a great box/basket that is brown and black with a great pattern on it for cheap in the clearance spot. It has held diapers, books, toys, blankets, and I am sure will have a million more uses in the future!

  16. Oh goodness, my best find would have to be the freebies at the side of the road, do those count? I don’t have the patience to find stuff at most stores, but am willing to try!

  17. I hope I didn’t already miss this giveaway. I love these stores.

  18. We have just moved to a town with a Tj max. I love it and so do my girls. I love the polka dot bath rug that i found there along with the dark brown fabric shower curtain. It instantly made the bathroom look better. With moving into a new house I could use some more decorating money. There is so much to buy. We also have a Home Goods in the big city next to us. I think i will be spending some time there when the kids are back in school.

  19. For sure the lamps. First place I head to when I walk through the front doors.

  20. I love Marshalls and TJ Maxx. We got an amazing leather chair there this winter and we love it… and it was at an amazingly low price!

  21. I think one of my favorite finds was a gorgeous teapot made of white ceramic with delicate sculpted roses on both sides of it. I fill it with faux flowers most of the year and I love moving it from room to room. I figured because it was so meticulously handcrafted it would be expensive….it was $5.99! Possibly because it didn’t come with a lid but who on earth would use that gorgeous thing for making tea and potentially staining it? “Not I”, said the cat!
I have done a nice amount of TJ Maxx shopping, I really like finding great winter gloves there just as the season approaches for less than half the retail price and they ACTUALLY keep your hands warm, so necessary in Wisconsin! : )

Once upon a long time ago I found Royal Wilton, Chintz Welbeck china dishes. Teacups, a huge tray, and even a gravy boat. I almost hyperventilated when I saw them! I bought everything they had. I’d love a gift card because I have to stay out of that store unless I have some extra cash to spend.

  24. I have been shopping at homegoods/tjmaxx/marshalls since I was old enough to drive:) My favorite find is a large silver mirror that I have hung in so many places- I toted it back and forth to college, and hung it in two different rooms in my appartment. all for just 29.99! I just moved into my first house and am would love a lamp (I agree-it would make the nights much more enjoyable!) and would love a gift card to make those nights more enjoyable!

P.S. This is my first post- thank you for all your inspiration- I hung “mis-treatments” last weekend in my bare front windows and LOVE them!!!

  25. So many great finds! I love the lamps at HomeGoods and the bedding at Marshalls!

  26. I have been slowly building my own plate collection from my local TJ Maxx. This giftcard would really help move this collection closer to a finished state!

  27. I would love a gift card!! A Marshals/Home Goods just opened up a few months ago near us and just walking through looking at everything makes me happy! I recently bought a console table that I LOVE from Home Goods; it was my first purchase from there and definitely not the last!!

  28. I haven’t shopped the home goods section much before. Why? I dunno, but I so am now- we need lamps in this house BADLY! we have one lamp on our sofa table and hubby keeps moving it to the center of the table….. need I say more?

  29. I have not shopped TJ Maxx in awhile and there isn’t a Marshalls near me (too bad)! I love the accessories at TJ Maxx though…always find some cute little somethin’ to spruce up my house. Thank you for this giveaway!!

  30. Love TJ MAXX/Marshalls/Homegoods. Just looking at your post makes me want to

Love these stores and we have one of each no less than 2 miles away. Please enter me for
the gift cards. I am ready to get my livingroom in order and arranged with your help and alittle help from your sponsors.

  32. I would not know where to begin, I doubt that I have bought a lamp as mine are pretty old but I still like them. I have bought every other possible thing at either TJMaxx or Marshalls through the years. I was so thrilled that we got a Marshalls in my small town and then I can go 10 mi. in the other direction and I get TJ’s….I consider myself very fortunate to have both. I can spend 2 hours in there and that many times isn’t enough time to look at so much and decide what I need or just want. I think the deals are just amazing and love both stores. I was thrilled to find Madame Alexander dolls there at a wonderful price since my 40 yr. old daughter collects them and they’re a fabulous gift for her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the two stores I can’t live without.

  33. I recently heard about Home Goods from some work friends, and a week later happened to drive past their store. They have one here in my town, but it’s tucked behind some other stores so I hadn’t noticed it. I’ve been redecorating most of my home, so was delighted when I walked in their store. Wow – it’s packed full of items for every room! I found a new shower curtain for now. Will shop again soon!

  34. I’m a junior in college and starting in June I will be leasing my first house with 5 other girlfriends from school. In anticipation of moving into the house I have been trolling the internet for college-budget effective ideas for decorating my room. I love your style and will definitely be using your blog as inspiration. I have already started collecting pieces and putting together projects but there is so much more to do. One of my roommates introduced me to Home Goods and I would really appreciate the opportunity to win a gift card to get the ball rolling even further! Please enter me in your sweepstakes, thank you!

  36. I found two plaques – 20″ x 7″ or so that inspire me every day. They are in my favorite colors – barn red and a warm golden glazed butter yellow. One says: “Every person’s LIFE is a fairytale written by God’s fingers.” and the other says, ” Where HOPE grows Miracles Blossom.”
I am always inspired by your blog site and ways to find great deals. We had a yard sale last Saturday, following much of your advice about how to do a successful one and we are saving up for a new couch for our empty family room. Thank you for the encouragement to use cash for home purchases!

  39. I love white dishes, too! …and TJMaxx is my all time fave. (I’ve already been there twice this week!) ha! My best find was a hammered cooper pig I found 6 years ago at TJMAXX. It’s on a shelf in my kitchen and it makes me smile every time I see it. It was 12.99 and has given me loads of joy. Thanks for the giveaway — I hope I win!

  40. sounds silly but at the checkout i once found nested angel hair pasta….loved, so tiny yummy

  41. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your decorating ideas and color schemes. Will you come decorate my house? I saw your pictures about a week ago, and the more I thought about them the more I liked them. I have spent several hours trying to find the pictures again, and finally did tonight. We bought our house about 2.5 years ago and I have been trying to think of a lovely way to decorate it, but nothing has struck me until I saw your pictures.

  42. Hello, for all time i used to check web site posts here early
in the morning, because i like to learn more and more.

  43. I am seeing your home for the first time today, September 1, 2013. I love your colors, style, and your thriftiness! I was married for 10 years and I just went thru a very hard and painful divorce. I find myself with 4 children, ages 9, 4, 3, and 2, and I am struggling to find my place in this world. My home is a mismatched hodgepodge of things given to me and my children and I’m ready to lighten and brighten things up!! I love TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall’s. Slowly I hope to make our home pretty and put together like yours, so I will keep your page pinned to my board as my inspiration and my personal goal ;)

  44. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is needed
to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty
penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% sure.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
