Sexy Back

Back of bookcase, cabinet and hutch that is. They want to look pretty too! Here’s my dining room hutch/china cab thingy. Look how sad and bored it is! He is just begging for attention. FYI: this is a case good so its gender is male.

Look closer, that’s right, I’ve got a mess of paper in there.

Now, I’ve read about people backing the back of their back with wrapping paper, contact paper, scrapbook paper, paint, sheet music and even fabric. I bet you have something in your house right now that you could use! I happened to have some 12 x 12 scrapbook paper and lo and behold it fit perfectly! Now, if it didn’t fit perfectly in yours, you could just cut it down or double up on the paper! Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful!

So, here’s my dilemma, I have all these pretty choices {plus 100’s more at Hobby Lobby} which one or two should I choose? What do you think?

It’s a pretty good solution–papers are 50 cents each and I’ll need about 12. Nice transformation for $6! And when I get bored of it, I can change it!

The one right above reminds me of Jennifer!

PS If you have done this project at your house, and blogged about it, let me know because this idea may just end up on Blissfully Domestic with links to you! Y’all go check out Tracy, I saw this on her blog a few weeks ago!

  1. Hey! I’ve got an uglyish dark wood bookcase that I’d like to spruce up a bit before my 3rd boy arrives in 3.5 weeks. I remembered this trick from your blog, so I searched for it. But I have a question: how do you attach the scrapbook paper to the back of the bookcase? I have sticky tack, but I figured that might leave a greasy mark when I wanted to take it off. Is this hot glue? If you could shoot me a quick email, I’d really appreciate it.

  1. […] the sexy back hutch project? Still love it. And my hot glue survived the move–no touch ups […]

  2. […] by this post and this post by The Nester, I decided to spruce my hutch up a little bit.  I picked out some red […]
