It was December 1st, 2009 and like every December 1st before, I pulled out my red and green bins. Stacks of them.

I spent the day unpacking all of my trusty Christmas decor and setting it around the house completely remaking our home so it would feel festive. But once everything was on display, instead of feeling festive, my house felt cluttered and somehow, less my style.

The layers of decor that I thought would welcome a season just seemed to make my house feel more chaotic, overfilled and complicated. I knew that I needed the opposite of that. I am still shocked that I had the nerve to do this but, I ended up packing up everything and putting it away before the boys and Chad got home.

I even put the bins back in storage. Cue The Grinch theme song.

It’s taken me awhile, but I finally figured out exactly what caused me to undecorate that day.

I’m happy to report that over the past eight years, our home has felt more Christmasy than ever.

I figured out how to get that Christmasy feeling I longed for without buying out the Christmas department at Hobby Lobby. I no longer have a part time job in December that involves lugging a bunch of bins around the house.

I didn’t need more Christmas ideas from Pinterest, and I didn’t need more Christmas decor.
I bet you don’t either.

Maybe you just need to know what to focus on, and most importantly what not to worry about when it comes to creating the kind of holiday home and holiday gatherings you long to have.

I created a brand new, simple class (first new class I’ve created in two years!) that you can start right now and be finished with in one hour.

Yep! Praise Baby Jesus you don’t need to start one more involved project, you need a simplified plan and I’ve got one for you. I’d love for you to take a look at it.

It’s all about how to have a simple Christmas like a normal person who appreciates beauty.

Once you’re done, you’ll know exactly how to create your own holiday home and you’ll have a plan for those holiday gatherings.

A to the men.
Yee to the Haw.
Merry to the Christmas
