oh my word

Y’all, Liz Curtis Higgs, author of a zillion books (ok, over 30 books-whatever, and here’s her newest one) is sitting in the very chair that I write this blog! And Ann Voskamp who taught us how to count the gifts, is also in my house–what in the WORLD?!? All of my goals have now been met. They spent the evening here at the house & barn last weekend with 30 of our dearest writing friends. And right now, Liz has a beautiful post at Ann’s blog that you won’t want to miss.

simple show

Did you see that Tsh relaunched her popular podcast : The Simple Show? See all the episodes & subscribe here–and Emily & I would love for you to listen in on when we joined Tsh for her podcast–episode 4.

Random Things: some questions answered from our online chats this week:

white flags, i give up

The white bunting/flag things from last week’s party are simply a sheet ripped up into rectangles and hot glued onto some twine (that’s the kind I used). SO easy and an excellent arrow. The ones on the outside of The Barn have been up outside since early May and are still holding!

where to buy 36 inch big round huge balloons

I bought my big balloons (36 inch round!) here, they cost $7.99 each to fill up with helium, I’ve also just used string and tied them from the ceiling. I try to always have a few around in the event we have a giant balloon emergency. It happens more often than I care to admit.

yay

Last week for our gathering I needed to put something on the chalkboard. My handwriting isn’t the best so I opted for white artists tape (I use it to hang printables & feathers on the wall too). Here’s the kind of tape I purchase–I have it in black and white and it’s used by artists because it doesn’t rip the paper if you need to remove the tape.

coloring book

I shared this photo on instagram & was surprised that so many of you either already color or were just as curious as I was. I’m LOVING my new adult coloring book–here’s the one this page is from, and here’s the next book I want to get. My teenage boys and Emily’s kids have enjoyed them too! Currently I use these markers, but I’d love to have a lot more color options.

That’s all friends, happy last week of July!
