Let’s Make!

diy

I “DIY’d” my way into loving our home. Not because I especially LOVE Doing it Myself (DIMy?) but because I didn’t have the disposable income to get the look I wanted, I like having creative control, and I choose to be okay with slightly imperfect outcomes–then I realized it was the imperfections that made me like things even more!

I decided it was worth taking a little time and effort to make a rental house our home, even though I’m the most impatient person in the universe when it comes to completing projects, DIYing still worked for me.

Doing it Yourself isn’t the only way to make a home. But it’s a fantastic option for anyone who is brave enough to take a tiny, private risk because the hope of creating something beautiful, is bigger than the fear of ruining something you don’t love in the first place.

Whether it’s painting furniture, taking photos, creating gifts or just learning a new skill, I’ve come to really appreciate the value of a good DIY project.

For the next week there’s a DIY eBook Bundle available for anyone who’s ready to make some changes in their home. Look at some of the courses and eBooks included:

This bundle has 76 eBooks and eCourses worth over $1200 and it’s only available for six days.

Just the Shoot Fly Shoot Photography eCourse alone normally sells for $67. I’ve been meaning to take that course for years now (it’s co-authored by Kevin–husband to Layla from The Lettered Cottage), and I’m so excited that it’s part of this bundle. There are lots of ebooks from bloggers you trust like Becky from Infarrantly Creative, Myra from My Blessed Life, Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick and Amy from Mom Advice.

  1. I love your approach to decorating. I found your blog 3 months ago when we were in the midst of gutting our home and I fell in love with your blog when you said, “it doesnt have to be perfect to be beautiful.’ You are doing a great job! Thank u for always sharing…

  2. nester,
I have learned to do projects on my house. the hard part is to not point out the “not perfects” when complimented. Most people don’t see them and maybe imperfection shows the handcrafted part.

  3. “Necessity is the mother of invention” they say. I agree, and so do all of the DIY projects around our home. After years of DIYing because there wasn’t another affordable way I find any other means of accomplishing something boring, dull, and lacking in satisfaction. Thank you for sharing the wonderful satisfying world of non-tacky DIYing at its best.
