great books

THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED

I think it’s time for some intention, encouragement and best of all laughter. How about a giveaway of three fresh new books that I really think you will love?!

Before I start do you know that I think of my friends in two groups? Not ‘online friends’ and ‘in real life friends’ no way so many people are both. I categorize friends as ‘friends who have been to my house’ and ‘friends who haven’t been to my house yet’. That’s pretty much how I classify everyone.

First up is Notes From A Blue Bike by my dear friend Tsh Oxenreieder who has stayed at our new house when we didn’t even have a kitchen counter, and she’s also stayed at our last house. And her family is coming next week to stay with us (hopefully) again while they are in Charlotte for a book signing–more info here. Tsh’s blog is The Art of Simple, formerly known as Simple Mom.

Personally, this book is the perfect read for me after Uganda. I actually read this book months ago, but I’ll be picking it up again for the reminders of how and why to be intentional. A quote from her book that stands out…Do the choices I make line up with how I really want to live? Bonus: this book is hardback and gorgeous.

Next another friend, who has been to my last house so many times I lost count, Holley Gerth. We eat cheese together. The heart of Holley’s book You’re Going to Be Okay is encouragement and hope. Who doesn’t need that?!

For every woman who has been disappointed, who has watched a dream disappear, whose life isn’t what she imagined it would be, bestselling author Holley Gerth has a heartfelt message of hope. It is possible to live with joy, resilience, and strength in both the good times and the bad.

Lastly, a friend who’s yet to come to my house, Melanie, you know you have an open invitation, right?! Maybe you read Melanie’s last book Sparkly Green Earrings? Her newest book, The Antelope in the Living Room: The story of two people sharing one life is a real, hilarious memoir about marriage. It’s the one book I took on the plane with me to Uganda.

But in a world where Fifty Shades of Gray spent time on the bestseller list, maybe we need a book about a real relationship. A real, messy, beautiful, normal marriage and what an incredible thing it can be and what a gift it is to spend your life with a man who can drive you crazy and make you fall in love all over again in the midst of the mundane and the routine and the what’s for dinner tonight and the soccer carpools.
