tufted settee in black linen

I want to introduce you to the newest addition to the family….room.

tufted bench

I’ve been on the lookout for a low backed bench for a few months. And really, I bought it for our bedroom so I could put it at the end of our bed. It’s been here three weeks and has yet to make it up the stairs. But its thin legs make me nervous for such a trafficy room. We’ll have to see where it ends up.

I had a decent amount of referral credit through Joss & Main so I bought it there. I think I get almost all of my referral credit through pinning random lovely things on Pinterest. If you use the “pin it” button from the Joss & Main site, now they automatically add your referral code so if someone buys, you get a $15 credit. Over time, if you are patient and don’t spend the $15 on a cute pillow, it adds up. And of course, if all you do is pin a ton of Joss & Main stuff everyday, your friends who follow you on Pinterest will hate you and then stop following you, so be smart, pin with honesty only things you truly find inspiring.

Here’s an example of something fabulous I pinned from Joss & Main recently. You can tell it’s from their site because it says “Pinned under pillows (the board I pinned it to) from Joss & Main”. So if someone happens to click from Pinterest and happens to sign up for the first time and happens to make a first purchase, I’ll get a $15 credit–and you will too if you are a Joss & Main member and pin something you love from the pin it button on their site. This method also works for other sites like fab.com and One Kings Lane but they don’t automatically add your referral code so you have to take some extra steps to add that.

It’s almost impossible to get a photo of a big black item in front of a huge lit window. Anyway, this is one of the cases where I don’t recommend that you look at flash sale sites to buy this particular item unless you have some store credit, it’s a Skyline piece so amazon carries a very similar piece for $432. One Kings Lane has sold something similar for $599 and the one I bought was $525 from Joss & Main.

Never assume that any one site is always giving you the best deal available on any item. I’ve found really great deals at flash sites, and I’ve seen them charge more for some pieces–just like EVERY place I shop –even the grocery store, some things cost more at certain places at certain times, it’s my job to be a smart shopper and do my research.

And just for fun I went back and looked at my bed, here’s the post from when I bought it, I paid $535 for a queen bed–not just headboard, through Joss & Main, at the time Amazon was selling it for $880.

Today, it depends on the color you want from Amazon…(now that I look at it, I think mine is linen gray but my tufts are lined up in rows not staggered)

And at Joss & Main today a similar bed, but the tufting looks different…better actually…

and one very similar to mine but a different color and shipping was free because I ordered something in the past 30 days, other wise it would have been $10 compared to free shipping if you are an Amazon Prime member.

Even Walmart got in on the tufted bed action–actually it’s just a tufted headboard, not the full bed for $413 which seems a little steep to me.

So, what started out as a quick intro has turned into a research post on prices. The moral of the story? It’s up to us to be smart and find the best price at any given time.  Also, isn’t my settee pretty?!
