Not Just Because

Today I’m busy with life stuff.  I’m gathering transcripts–wait they don’t have any? Medical records {picked them up two weeks ago and lost them, now going to pick them up again} and birth certificates for an upcoming school change.  I planned to not even have a post today.  But then I read this.  From my favorite writer.  It’s not about homes, it’s about life, so it applies to us all.   And I thought you might enjoy reading it as much as I did.  And I can’t wait to read all of her comments.

And it’s not just because she’s my sister.

  1. Well. What a sweet gift you are, today and always. Love you sister. I’ll call you soon.

  2. Going to head over right now to read it. :) Two gifted sisters!

  3. So enjoyed your sister’s story. I can see why she is your favorite writer. This post made me stop and think about so many of the happiest times in my life. Too often we look ahead to what is next and not enjoy the simple and truly joyous things that are happening all around us right now.

  4. You have a wonderful sister and you are wonderful, too. It makes me want to meet your parents. (And you two in person!)

Thank you for this story. I forwarded it to my daughter and her partner who also have twins. One of my happiest days was when they called to tell me that there were TWINS coming! It seemed better than Christmas! Twins! And they are simply wonderful children now at two years old.

Funny, because their older sister was also a surprise. After she was born, they learned that she has Down Syndrome. That was one of the most heartbreaking days (at the time) but looking back, she might be the greatest gift of my life, and I’m sure of theirs. She is a wonderful person (age 5) and I think about her, and her struggles and her joys every day of my life. I am so glad she is in our family.

  6. Thanks for sharing life with us! Have a blessed day!!! Blessings!

  7. Dear Nester,

Thanks for recommending such a good “read”. Good luck handling all your “life stuff” today! I hope everything goes smoothly and you have a wonderful, successful and productive day!

  8. Just had to comment…when I clicked above link it was blocked by the parental controls on my computer due to “sex”. Thought you and your sister would get a laugh out of that!

  9. Thank you for sharing this. I cried. I commented. I rarely do that the first time I visit a blog.

  10. How sweet. We had an unexpected cup of hot cocoa with candy cane sticks after lunch today as well.

My 6 year old asked for it.

It was tempting to say no because Mama didn’t want to clean up a sticky mess.

But watching the 3 of them sit at the bar and keep piling marshmallows into their cup and enjoying smiles all around was definitely worth the clean up.

AND. Thanks to you, I got to use Mrs. Meyers Lemon Verbena to clean it all up.

    Oh the wonder!

  11. What a sweet sister you have! Love her creative writing style.

  12. I love the picture. I’m on my way to make hot cocoa as soon as I finish typing this!

  13. I was wondering about the school change you made with the boys? My oldest was at the local public school for kindergarten then this year for 1st he was home for school. Now we are trying to figure out a plan for next year for his schooling! I’d love your thoughts on school changes for your boys if its not too private!

    Thank you!
